Introduction

Hello! My name is Andrey Staroselskiy, and that is me above trying things on at Goodwill (it was the first picture I could find that was of just me :))  Wine experience: I have a bit of experience with wine, and I have discovered that I primarily like white wines because they are not as sweet. I like certain red wines like Sangria, blackberry wines, cranberry, most viscous wines in general. But while I like almost all white wines, it is a gamble with the reds for me. Sometimes they are too dry, sometimes too concentrated, and other times I cannot even describe why I don't like them. Moscato's are probably one of my favorites, as my first few wine blogs have demonstrated :) What to learn: I hope to learn a lot more about wines so that I can not only make educated decisions in purchases, but also be able to intelligently discuss wine with my peers, co-workers, and enthusiasts. From the lectures I have already watched, I have genuinely found engaging because I learn so much in s

Tasting 4 - Pink Moscato - Andre California Champagne

Image
Wine: Pink Moscato - Andre California Champagne Region: California Country: USA Year: No Vintage Online Review: Fans of orange and cherry flavors will get a kick out of AndrĂ© Pink Moscato California Champagne. This pink moscato sparkling wine has the right amount of elegance and fun, making it an appropriate choice for romantic desserts or a night out with your favorite girls (or guys). Serve chilled, and pair with something just as sweet. Source: https://www.influenster.com/reviews/andre-pink-moscato-california-champagne Folly:  Page 251. A frizzante (lightly sparkling), highly aromatic sweet white wine from Piedmont that has some of the lowest alcohol levels of all wine (5.5% ABV). These wines are loved for their outstanding aromas and succulent sweet taste that pairs well with fruity desserts and cake. My Review:  While I am normally not a fan of champagne, this alcohol has hit me a little different. And no, not because it is named "after" me :). While this is not a rose,

Tasting 3 - Peach Moscato - Bay Bridge Vineyards

Image
Wine: Peach Moscato - Bay Bridge Vineyards Region: Livermore and Ripon, CA Country: USA Year: No Vintage Online Review: Grown around the world, the Moscato grape produces some of the most delightful sweet wines, ranging from very delicate to quite lush. The perfumes of a Moscato wine are heavenly, with notes of peach, apricot, orange blossom and ginger that are dominant. These wines are made to emphasize the aromatics and freshness, so most examples of Moscato are made without oak and are released early for immediate pleasure. This highly perfumed grape is used in a variety of styles and sweetness levels. Moscato d’Asti is delicately “frizzante,” Asti Spumante is fully effervescent, and there is also a dried “Passito” style found in Strevi. Look in Asti, Loazzolo, Strevi, and Colli Tortonesi for this wine. My Review:  Obviously, the most dominant flavor of

Tasting 2 - Cranberry Moscato - Tropical by Luca Bosio

Image
Wine: Cranberry Moscato - Tropical by Luca Bosio Region: Italian Alps Country: Italy Year: 2018 Online Review: Pink coral color. Herbal aromas of eucalyptus honey and ginger with a supple, crisp, petillant, dryish medium body and a smooth, buoyant strawberry candies and mint tea finish. A juicy, herbal and refreshing flavored Moscato. Source: https://www.tastings.com/Wine-Review/Tropical-NV-Cranberry-Moscato-Italy-Italy-12-18-2021.aspx Folly:  Page 139. A very delicate and lightly sparkling Muscat Blanc from the Asti region in Piedmont, Italy. Moscato d’Asti has one of the lowest alcohol levels of all wines (at around 5.5% ABV), reserving the grape sugars for sweetness in this highly aromatic white wine. Puckette, Madeline; Hammack, Justin. Wine Folly: Magnum Edition (p. 139). Penguin Publishing Group. Kindle Edition.  My Review:  First impression is the bubbles. I like how it is just slightly carbonated, not to the point of champagne, but enough to give it some character. This wine is

Tasting 1 - Cabernet Sauvignon - Bay Bridge

Image
Wine: Cabernet Sauvignon - Bay Bridge Vineyards Region: Livermore and Ripon, California Country: USA Year: 2019 Online Review:  Ruby black color. Aromas of red cassis, ripe plum, spice cookies, dill, and sun dried tomato with a supple, vibrant, dry-yet-fruity light-to-medium body and a smooth, snappy chocolate tart and hints of almonds finish with well-integrated, medium tannins and moderate oak flavor. A juicy, pairable Cab for the table and beyond. Source: https://www.tastings.com/Wine-Review/Bay-Bridge-Vineyards-NV-Cabernet-Sauvignon-California-USA-10-15-2020.aspx  Folly: Page 88. The rich flavor and high tannin content in Cabernet Sauvignon make it a perfect partner to rich grilled meats, peppery sauces, and dishes with high flavor. My Review:  Dry. Sooooo dry. It feels like my whole face is getting sucked into my mouth, with immediate feeling of dehydration ensuing. While the fruity aftertaste is somewhat pleasant, I would much rather eat the grapes off the vine :) I am personal
