Tasting 3 - Peach Moscato - Bay Bridge Vineyards

Wine: Peach Moscato - Bay Bridge Vineyards

Region: Livermore and Ripon, CA

Country: USA

Year: No Vintage

Online Review:
Grown around the world, the Moscato grape produces some of the most delightful sweet wines, ranging from very delicate to quite lush. The perfumes of a Moscato wine are heavenly, with notes of peach, apricot, orange blossom and ginger that are dominant. These wines are made to emphasize the aromatics and freshness, so most examples of Moscato are made without oak and are released early for immediate pleasure.

Folly: Page 254. This highly perfumed grape is used in a variety of styles and sweetness levels. Moscato d’Asti is delicately “frizzante,” Asti Spumante is fully effervescent, and there is also a dried “Passito” style found in Strevi. Look in Asti, Loazzolo, Strevi, and Colli Tortonesi for this wine.

My Review:
Obviously, the most dominant flavor of this wine is peach. I would, however, argue that this is more of a semi-sweet sort of wine, with a sort of lathery, greasy texture in the aftertaste. I enjoyed that this wine was quite gentle coming down -- it did not dry up my whole mouth like most red wines do. There appear to be hints of fruit other than peach in the taste as well which can be revealed when i oxygenated the wine in my mouth.

I did not have food with this wine.
